Biofeedback provides a person with information as to what is taking place in their body. This information is collected by sensors placed on the skin. Just as a person learning to ride a bike becomes aware of how to balance the bicycle, neurofeedback, a type of biofeedback, helps a person learn to balance their life with positive changers in self control and increased emotional stability. The training safely and powerfully impacts our entire system. These changes are subtle, cumulative, and have enduring benefits.
The brain receives instantaneous feedback through EEG sensors on the scalp, guiding it toward optimal functioning. Overtime, the brain pushes itself toward more appropriate patterns such as less mental chatter and more ability to focus. The brain eventually trains itself toward a more efficient, diverse and expanded capacity.
In my experience with EEG Biofeedback and ADD, many people are able to improve their reading skills and decrease their need for medication. Also, EEG biofeedback has decreased impulsivity and aggressiveness. It is a powerful tool, in part because the patient becomes part of the treatment process by taking more control over his own physiological processes.

In my own practice, I've used neurofeedback in a comprehensive medical treatment program to help more than 1,000 patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. When combined with supportive therapies such as family counseling and educational therapy, EEG neurofeedback is the most effective treatment available.

We had a feeling our 6-year-old-Ian wasn't ready to start school, but when the learning center threw their hands up, it became a real concern. Ian was later diagnosed with ADHD. It was Donna, through EEG training , that we saw Ian's first hope of sustained focus. Ten years later he enjoys continued success as a busy and capable high school student.

When I began neurofeedback with Donna, I was having daily angry outbursts that lasted for several hours. Within two weeks, those episodes completely subsided. I am much less depressed, so much happier, and more fun to be around.

Since I started neurofeedback therapy, I have developed ways to cope with negative thought patterns. I have also begun to control my addictions and to focus more on my future and feel motivated to make something of myself.
